The map shows the Gulf of St. Lawrence, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, and parts of Nova Scotia and Quebec. It shows Anticosti Island and the Magdelan Islands. The map uses labels, colour and stippled lines to show fishing banks. The title appears in a decorative cartouche in the lower right corner. The cartouche also contains a bar scale in French units. The map shows New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and parts of Quebec and Maine. An inset shows the "City and Harbor of Halifax." Bright colours are used to outline different territories. Faint colours are used to differentiate the counties of the three Maritime provinces, which are all labelled in upper case letters. The main map has a bar scale in miles, and the inset has a line scale in miles. Latitude and longitude values are given around the edges of the map; numbers at the top show longitude measured west from Greenwich, while numbers at the bottom show longitude east from Washington. It describes the land surrounding the road with labels noting swamp or hardwood forest. The plan also shows the boundary line between Lots 33 and 34; part of the road to Stanhope; and the location of a mill. It gives the names of three residents. North arrow. Also signed by Chas. Wright, Surveyor General. , This plan shows a new road in the Covehead area in the northwest corner of Lot 34. It describes the land surrounding the road with labels noting swamp or hardwood forest. The plan also shows the boundary line between Lots 33 and 34; part of the road to Stanhope; and the location of a mill. It gives the names of three residents. North arrow., Lower right corner: Remarks-- This line of road is almost all through burnt woods and without any swamps so that 25 men were more able to go through with it than 50 men could do in a straight line--this year's labor did all from the Black river to the stake marked on the road west from the mill.
